(More customer reviews)In spite of this being a Hoover part and some retailers saying it's just as good or better (really???) than the original beater bar brush it does not work nearly as well in my opinion. You can still buy the original beater bar brush so for that reason I think these retailers should stop showing a picture of the beater bar when that's not what they are selling. They can't advertise that this is "Genuine Hoover OEM" and show a picture of a different brush. Pictures of the new wooden brush are readily available. Just search Amazon.
This is the second time I've purchased what I thought was pictured and got the cheap wooden one.
As for this being "just as good" or "better" or "just a style difference" I have to disagree. I am an engineer and can tell you this new brush is functionally different, does not beat the carpet and, because the bristles are longer and less stiff does not clean as well. That's my opinion and my experinece.
Shame on Hoover, who invented the beater bar and the phrase "It BEATS as it sweeps as it cleans". But most of all shame on retailers who could easily show a picture of what they're selling but choose to show photos of the old brush. They should at least say the brush they are selling is not what is pictured.
