(More customer reviews)Just purchased the DC 17 allergy and asthma today. Have done a lot of research over the last week and read many reviews. I really wanted a good vacuum I can depend on; I have 6 kids and vacuum daily! Best I can tell each model has the same amount of suction, they just have different options in color, filter placement/type and attachments. I was set on the DC14 model but this was on sale for a great price and had a few more attachments I felt I would really use. So far I am pleased. It appears to pick up as expected, I'm pretty impressed with the amount of junk in the canister and my carpets feel cleaner. This is very easy to maneuver; I see no need for the more expensive ball model, unless you will use all the fancy attachments. All the full size Dyson's felt heavy to me in the store, so I was concerned with getting it up and down the stairs, but in comparison to Hoover etc. they all seem to be about the same weight and hey we could all use a good workout. I find no issues with pushing it around, it moves with great ease and transitions surfaces flawlessly. Turning the beater off to move from carpet to solid floors is a breeze and the feature works wonderfully, just a touch of an easy to reach button. The attachments fit on firmly and do not fall off. The wand will take some getting use to as it is solid for about 18+" and I am use to the hose being flexible at the base. I don't have to bend as much using it though so my back is happy! The hose is very easy to remove for use, just cannot use it for quick pick-ups until you unwind the entire plug, so one minor downfall. It states there is a 5 year warranty, I did not read what all that covers, I will just be relieved to have a vacuum last more than a year with the beating I give them. It is important as with ALL canister vacuums that you tap or wipe out the excess dust from the chamber weekly. I have had many canister vacuums and learned early on to do this often to keep the fine dust from building up or you will loose suction. The filter is easy to remove and clean by running under tap water, so will save on replacement filters in the future! Overall I am happy; we will see how I feel at the 6 mo. And 1 yr. mark. But no regrets today. The only negative I can agree with that I have seen over the last week is the not being able to remove the wand without unwinding the entire cord.

(More customer reviews)The Dirt Devil Sonic Sweep cordless electric carpet sweeper is not a vacuum cleaner. It uses a rapidly rotating brush and "sonic sweep" vibrations to loosen dirt in carpet. The sonic sweep feature can be turned off when the sweeper is being used on bare floors. It is very light and easy to maneuver. It weighs just a few pounds and it's not more than about a foot wide. It looks like a nicely designed play vacuum cleaner for children, except that it has a full length handle. It is a simple machine with no filters to replace or clean. The dirt tray is very easy to empty. The huge surprise was how well this thing worked, when it worked at all. I bought one and used it a few times durng the next week or two. It didn't do as good a job as my upright vacuum, but it came remarkably close, with about a tenth the effort. But then it died. A part came loose and fell off. I returned the sweeper and got another. That one didn't last ten minutes! It is a shame, because this would be a very useful convenient sweeper if it were reliable. As it is, I have to give up on it and advise people to avoid it.

(More customer reviews)I have a 1/2 acre lot with a flat front yard and a hilly backyard, with heavy woods along the entire back and one whole side plus several large 30ft+ trees on my lot. So yes I have a lot of leaves every year.
This sweeper works pretty good on flat ground, uneven ground can give you uneven results. On hilly areas, try to pick a path where the ground is flat with respect to the area between the two wheels.
The height adjustment is key. If the brushes are too low, you'll be jamming them on the ground and making the sweeper very hard to push. It should take little effort to push, less than a gas powered lawnmower. If the brushes are too high, you'll skim over some stuff. I think a couple of the previous reviewers didn't adjust the brush height properly. In very, very heavy leaves the sweeper works but fills so fast, in 15 feet for me in some places, that a rake is actually faster.
Things to remember:
1. Proper height adjustment is key. Changing height is very easy and quick.
2. Keep your rake. You'll still need it for fence lines, gardens, flower beds, etc...
3. Keep a good pace and get those brushes spinning. It really tosses the stuff back in the catcher that way.
4. Works best on dry or slightly damp leaves. Not so good on wet leaves.
Things that would make this sweeper better:
1. The brush housing should throw leaves farther back in catcher. The catcher fills quickly in the front while there is still room in the rear. I just reach down and pull all the leaves back so I can get more in the catcher between dumps but the housing could be modified to throw the leaves better.
2. A deeper catcher, more volume. I want to change this thing as little as possible. I have fairly long legs and I don't kick the catcher, so another 2-3 inches deeper would be nice.
Things I don't have to worry about that you might think about:
1. Bagging. If you bag your leaves, dumping leaves from the catcher to a bag might be a pain. You need two hands to empty the catcher and 1-2 hands to hold the bag, so.... Since I have woods on two sides, where most of the leave came from in the first place, I just return to sender. If I had to bag I would probably sweep and dump all the leaves in one big pile in the driveway and then bag all leaves at the end.

I have Two Border Collies they are Seven and Three so they are past the potty training, but the sopts from when they were potty training are still there. So the next day after I got it I decided to find a big old spot and man was I suprised at how well it got it out and how dry it was.

2. Rotating Brush is good at scrubbing but gentle Enough not to ruin the rugs.

Cons
1.Dirty water bin takes long to dry word of advice(shake it after rinsing leave near heater with end cap off)

Now I will tell you about my experience with different cleaners. My first one was the hoover steam vac with the brushes. It ruined my carpets the rotating brushes unwind the threads in the rug leaving it looking matted down. The next machine I used was the cordless Bissell Spot Lifter which was good but did not hold a good charge and there was no power brush.
So there you have it I would defenitly recomend this product. It did a good job on carpets in the car and out of the car. I have two tips for using it(when doing the car don't be stupid like some of the other people that have recommended it, you can only use it inthe upright position so don't try and do the backrest of your car because it will activate the float and shut off the suction)Also clean up and sand with a vacuum before using it. Another person wrote that the sand clogged the dirty water intake, well if that person was smart they would have read the directions where it said for water pick up only clean any bulky items before using this machine. That is all I have to say about this product.

I love that it has an extendable handle which can reach the ceiling for cleaning up dust. I am not a tall person, so that feature comes in really handy. Within two times of vacuuming the carpet, the carpet looked almost brand new. I even had one of my friends ask me if we had put brand new carpet in the living room. It does take a little getting used to the dyson ball. I could not imagine switching to a different vacuum. This vacuum is a must if you have pets and people with allergies.

I drag it by the the handle on the bagless cylinder, but it's awkward. The side suction (up against your baseboards) is phenomenal! The ease of emptying the bagless cylinder is wonderful. We're not an allergy family, but spent the extra $ for the HEPA version of the DC33. The filters are washable, no replacing!

(More customer reviews)This is a great deep cleanning machine, I have 2 long hair cats. The vacuum did not pick up. But this machine found it. I pretreated the stains before I cleanned, and used the pet allergy formula.
My guests were allergic to pets, but did not sneeze, or have red eyes while they visited. Just carry a little bag with you while your cleanning to pick up the left over balls of hair that is shot out from the brushes. The downfall, It is very heavy, not easy to monuver, it should have caster wheels.
By mistake I tended to hit the red power shot button a lot that is near the handle. the brush on the side with the hose attachment, became loose from the cradle and sprayed me a few times. The spray on the rug seemed a little much, was wet when I felt it later. Not like my Hoover. I wasn't crazy about the dirty water in the same tank as the bag with the clean water. It took 1-1/2 bags of water to do a 11x12 room. Not a big enough water bag. Hard to clean the front shaft and brush area of pet hair. No tool came with the machine for that. My Hoover did, I used that. The best thing, it heated the water for cleanning, and the cord was long enough. I like the handle on the front of the machine for easy lifting. All in all, this is a great machine for the money, I was satisfied.

Dyson DC23 Motorhead Bagless Canister Vacuum Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)I would definitely recommend the Dyson DC23 to anyone looking for a bagless canister vacuum that is very powerful, efficient on all types of flooring, compact for easy storage, and great at deep cleaning carpet pile. I use my DC23 almost daily, and I am amazed to see how much deep down filth like sand and grit it accumulates every time I vacuum. This Dyson is a very powerful machine that is very efficient at cleaning both hard flooring and carpets, comes with a wonderful assortment of attachments for cleaning floors, carpets, and hard to reach areas, and its very compact for easy storage in small spaces.
The design of the DC23 is as impressive as its performance, with much function behind its draconian appearance. I absolutely love the "Telescopic Wand" that extends to full length in less than a second for use with the Motorhead, or bare floor tool(s). I retracts back inward for easy use with the stair tool, crevice tool, and dusting brush. In addition to being impressed with the Telescopic wand, I also found myself quite fond of the Motorhead power nozzle attachment.
The Motorhead impressed me with the way it moves on carpet, as well as with its aggressive brush roll that deep cleans carpets quite well. The Motorhead moves and corners with ease with a design Dyson calls the "Tri-Ball Arrangement"; this is a motion apparatus that consists of a low wide roller, accompanied by a small wheel on each side of it. The three wheels work in concert to allow the user flexible steering of the Motorhead, much like the Ball uprights. Left and right turns are executed with a simple flick of the wrist. The brush within the Motorhead is driven by a powerful 120V 60 Hz 80 W motor that sends power to the brush roll via steel gear drive, eliminating the belt altogether. The gearbox also results in no lost torque. The brush roll rotates in excess of 5,400 RPM (think about it, that's 90 rotations per second), which is the reason why this machine deep cleans carpets so well.
Another key design element of the DC23 that I should note is the Level 3 Root Cyclone filtration system. The new Level 3 Root Cyclone performs brilliantly at separating dust, sand, and large debris from the airstream more efficiently than past iterations of Dyson cyclone technology. It works with three stages of separation: the low-speed outer cyclone separates fluff and large debris from the airstream, the inner "Core Separator" removes a large bulk of sand and dust that bypasses the first stage, and finally the air is divided through 14 high speed cyclones that subject microscopic contaminants to over 150,000 G-forces. I have been using this machine for over six months, and the pre-filter is still very clean, with no visible signs of contamination. Dyson recommends that you clean the pre-filter every three months, however, I can easily go six or more months before ever having to clean the filter.
There are a few minor issues that I should address before I conclude my review, which in my opinion my not matter to some readers out there, but I feel I should note them anyway. First of all, the Motorhead is an abundantly powerful electrified device that generates extra noise in addition to the sound produced by the main vacuum motor. Those of you that are moving up from cheaper, less powerful machines may find the noise somewhat loud (from my experience, good power nozzles from all high-end makes like Sebo, Miele, Rainbow, etc. are rather loud). However, new users will eventually get used to it. Second, some of the previously sold attachments, such as the old style "Turbine Hand Tool" will not work with this machine. I found the hard way recently when I purchased the now discontinued turbine tool, which appeared to be compatible because it uses the same latch release mechanism as the other attachments provided with my machine. Be sure to buy accessories specifically made for the DC23, because most of them on the market will not fit. In addition, Dyson now sells a second generation Turbine Hand Tool that will work with every Dyson model, just be sure to look for the smaller new all-clear version, and not the discontinued version that is bulkier with purple/clear plastic.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with my Dyson DC23, and I will not recommend anything other than a Dyson to all my friends and family. Consider me a Dyson owner for life.

I waited 1/2 hour and tried again.. lights come on but motor appears to be seized and shuts off right away after dimming lights in house. I took machine to Eureka authorized service center noted on their website.....they refused to honor warrantee and service the product and advised returning it to Amazon.

(More customer reviews)Being in a small apartment with four cats I really wanted a powerful vacuum with pet hair in mind. I had originally researched Bissell's Pet Hair Eraser but found this one and decided to give it a go.
As the reviewer above said this vacuum is hard to push. After going over the carpet you can really see why though. My carpet has never been so "fluffy" as it is now. The vacuum roller and the hair brush in front of that really perk up the carpet and did an excellent job getting all of the hair out of the rug!
The tools that come with it are very nice. The hand vac rolling brush I have always liked but the rubberized edge brush was really nice for the edges of the couch.
Even with my old vacuum I cleaned the filters after every session and I did the same with this one. Clean up was really easy just using warm water in the sink. People who complain about dust getting outside of the unit during vacuuming are incorrect. The dust gets outside when you open the dust bins. It is a downfall of any of the bag less units that have open top bins but not a real draw back.
Over all I am very happy with this unit. It has power and really puts it to the floor where it is needed. The extra tools are a huge bonus and the hair brush on the front of the unit really does a good job picking up hair. I highly recommend this vacuum.

I like the fact that it is two in one because I have area rugs for a stand up vac and tons of bare floors for the canister. I was tired of having two vaccums. Great suction. Once you remember to turn the hose to get it on and off it is easy. It is bagless which is useful. There are a couple of drawbacks. DO NOT LIFT THE VAC UP BY THE WAND HANDLE. Lift it by the handle that was intended to be used for lifting. When you lift it by the want handle the handle decides it wants to turn. It is a remvable handle and it has a raised ball on it to slide into a slot. It will dislodge from the slot when you lift the vaccum up by the wand handle and get stuck. It is very difficult to get it back to rights. It is a loud vaccum but not overly loud. I do not like the fact that the attachment intended to be used with the canister portion hasn't a place to be stored. And dirt seems to stick to the cord. You will find that out when you go to wrap it up. It is a very attractive vaccum, easy to use, great suction, versitile.
