Bissell ProHeat Upright Deep Cleaner, 25A3 Review

Bissell ProHeat Upright Deep Cleaner, 25A3
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I upgraded from an older Bissell Little Green Machine to this unit based primarily on my experience with Bissell products. The PROheat has a number of nice features that ultimately sold me on it and after using it for a few months now I'm fairly pleased with it. I particularly like that you can choose to either have the heat on or off. I've heard some people say that using the heat can break down your carpets more quickly and cause the stain to get worse as it picks up new dirt that is tracked in. I don't know if that's not the case, but since my old Bissell unit lacked heat but did a fine job, I pretty much use this minus the heat. Even with the heat off I'm stunned at how good a job this unit does. It's even cleaned stains that I gave up as a lost cause. Most astonishingly, I usually vacuum first before using the steamer and then vacuum again once it's dry. I've discovered I actually vacuum up MORE dirt after steam cleaning than I did before. Clearly this machine is knocking loose built up dirt which means cleaner and nicer appearing carpets than ever before. I also liked the wand attachment from my old Little Green machine, especially for upholstered pieces and hard to reach spots and this thankfully has that.
But there are some drawbacks and limitations. At least initially you will pick up a LOT of carpet fibers when you use the machine, which means FREQUENT cleaning of the rotating brushes and especially the multiple filters on the unit. In some instances I wound up using tweezers to get out fibers from the particularly small filter on the underside of the water tank. The one on top is easier to clean out, but particles trap almost everywhere on this machine. The water tank holds a pitifully small amount of water and/or cleaning solution which means frequent refills, and it slows down the whole cleaning process. The self contained tank is easy to empty, but if you think that will eliminate odors from dirty water guess again, it doesn't. The tank does seem to leak or the seals don't hold tight and so dirty water does collect in the well that the tank sits in, which ads to the nasty smells as well as adding yet another think you have to clean up. Another particularly annoying habit is the dirty water seeping out the front of the machine by the cleaning rollers when you turn off and store the machine. This is really disgusting and trust me, don't store it on carpet or even leave it sitting there for very long as it WILL leak! When in use loose fibers tend to gather on the underside of the machine around the brush rollers so you manually have to gather it up by hand, which slows down the cleaning process. Once you've cleaned your carpet a few times that problem (hopefully) should minimize, although it has yet to happen for me. As a result there's a considerable amount of maintenance you have to do to ensure your machine is operating under optimum conditions. Even so, it's hard to argue with the results. I would probably buy this same unit again, but would also read up on other models just in case they operate more easily. Perhaps I was used to the utter simplicity of the Little Green Machine and sometimes I wish I was still using it, sad to say.

The machine comes equipped with a rotating six-row DirtLifter PowerBrush that safely lifts out dirt while gently grooming carpet fibers, floating suspension that self-adjusts to all carpet heights, and a two-in-one 1-gallon water tank that keeps clean and dirty water separate. Choose between floor cleaning or above-floor cleaning with a simple turn of the knob. On-board tools include a 3-inch tough-stain tool and a spraying crevice tool made from 100-percent post-consumer recycled materials. Electrolux Home Care 1934A The Boss Upright Vacuum Review

Electrolux Home Care 1934A The Boss Upright Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just moved into an apartment with a new synthetic carpet that sheds like a pack of afghan hounds; it choked my bagless vacuum in under a minute. I needed a sturdy, no-frills, bagged vacuum like the Montgomery Ward upright I used for over 20 years before it died.
This model was almost identical, and now that I've had it for a few weeks, I'm happy as a clam. It has an old-fashioned rotating brush/beater roller, 5 carpet height adjustments, great suction for 5 amps, and comes pre-fitted with a humongous disposable liner bag (type F&G), plus a spare belt for the roller. Some parts that used to be steel have been replaced with thick plastic, but it seems plenty sturdy, and it's much lighter to maneuver and carry than my old all-steel model. The on/off button and lock/unlock for the handle are both on the base, so they're foot controls; carpet height is adjusted by a dial on the front of the base. The long cord (20 feet or so) doesn't retract, you just wind it over hooks on the handle. The spring-attached fabric bag has a full-length zipper, inside which the disposable bag (which fills the cover from end to end) slides on with another spring. Quick, simple.
One pass with this puppy picked up enough carpet fluff missed by the bagless to knit a throw rug, but there's still plenty of room left for future dirt. It's also a lot less noisy than my smaller bagless. The only qualm I had in buying this was the lack of attachments for cleaning upholstery & suchlike, but I found an inexpensive accessory kit made for it (crevice tool, round dust brush, upholstery brush, extension tubes, looooong flexible hose) right here on Amazon: the "Electrolux Home Care 60E 6-Piece Deluxe Tool Set," so my joy is complete.
Though the image on this page looks rather green, the vacuum is actually jet black, and the bag is a black-white-red random print. It comes in a flat box, minor assembly required. Highly recommended for those who remember how good the old vacuums were, don't want to spend a fortune just to clean their carpets, or are into retro styling.

Bissell ProHeat 2X Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner, 9200 Review

Bissell ProHeat 2X Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner, 9200
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the first machine I have owned; however, it is among many I have borrowed over many years.
Assembling and acquainting myself with it took only 10 minutes.
I was very happy to buy this unit as the cleaning solution and water vessels are separate. So, I can rinse my carpets after cleaning them.
The heating unit works in just one minute after filling the water bladder and placing it back on the deep cleaner. Then...you are off and cleaning your carpets.
Using it on a 12' x 12' bedroom and a 14' x 25' great room was pretty easy and pleasureable. The result was perfection in a spotless carpet! Most importantly, a spotless carpet with little shampooing residue left behind compared to other cleaners.
Why not 5 stars as a rating from me?...Well, the following are the issues I have but am willing to deal with:
*** They say you can leave the cleaning solution in the tank until the next time you clean, which could be many months from now. I do not recommend this as the unit seemed to leak while the cleaning solution was left in the tank and the unit was merely sitting with the cord wrapped up. Simply dump the cleaning solution back into the bottle and rinse out the vessel.
*** Carpet fibers seem to adhere to the bottom of the unit behind the brushes. To avoid dislodging these fibers onto the carpet during cleaning, the bottom of the unit should be wiped down frequently.
*** To keep the unit in tip top shape, the rollers, sucking unit, water bladder, and cleaning solution vessel should be removed, rinsed, and allowed to dry thoroughly. Direction are given in the manual to remove all of these items properly; however, it requires 15 minutes of dismantling...then overnight to dry...then another 15 minutes to reassemble. Unscrewing screws is involved 4 screws...this was to access the front sucking nozzle and two rollers. To remove the water bladder and replace it seems to put a bit of wear on the bladder and I anticipate having to buy a replacement for this in the years to come. BUT...each piece that is rinsed off cleans up VERY easily and dries well.
*** The design of the water bladder-dirty water vessel is a bit odd. You fill a bladder (plastic) with hot tap water. The bladder is seated in a rigid plastic containment unit. It turns out this rigin plastic containment unit is the dirty water vessel. The water from the carpet is sucked in and resides on the outside of the clean water bladder. Clever design, but somewhat of a pain as the vacuum/ no vacuum trigger can be easily tripped if the unit bumps into furniture or you move it left or right to quickly. The reason seems to be the water sloshing around outside the bladder and inside the bladder flow and trigger the valve to prematurely open and stop the sucking. Not a huge issue, just an annoyance b/c you have to turn off the vacuum and jostle the unit a bit to get the valve to close again.
*** The placement of the accessory hose is awkward especially if you are a left-handed vacuumer. My leg would bump into the hose and the latch they have designed to secure it is not very good at keeping it secure. I had to reseat the hose 5 times during the cleaning of my two rooms... Again, an annoyance.
*** The wheels on the unit are large in diameter, which makes the unit very easy to maneuver even though it is heavy (I agree with a prior reviewer that heavy is good in a carpet cleaner). However, I question how well they are assembled to the machine as there seems to be some give left-to-right as you turn the unit...we'll see about this in the long run.
All in all, I am still quite satisfied with the unit as it does all that I wanted it to do. I am not sure that you would not have other annoyances with other brands as well...in other words, I do not think there is a perfect carpet cleaner as I have been researching them for weeks now...all of them seem to have issues in some way or another. But the issues I describe here versus the result in clean carpets...has me very happy to own the Bissell ProHeat 2X.

No more back and forth with the spray can and wimpy dry vacuum to get out tough carpet stains. ProHeat's hot, cleansing formula and extremely powerful suction work together to quickly remove tough carpet stains and embedded debris in a single pass. Ten rows of powerful brushes agitate ground-in dirt and bring it to the surface, while a wide floor nozzle with a 12-inch cleaning path extracts all traces for spotless results every time. Innovative edge-sweep brushes clean flush with walls without scratching.
The ProHeat 2X is equipped with ultra-smooth wheels and an extra-long, 30-foot power cord for optimal maneuverability. Perfect for cleaning carpet, upholstery, and stairs, the ProHeat features an innovative Tough Stain tool for cleaning up gummy messes and restoring carpet to factorylike newness. Other features include a heater switch, heat indicator light, carrying handle, easy-to-clean nozzle, and 2-in-1 tank as well as 12 amps of cleaning power. Your purchase includes the stain-removing tool, a trial-size stain cleaner and fiber cleansing formula, and Scotchgard for keeping that carpet perfectly clean.
Bissell ProHeat models all feature a patented built-in heater that will heat the hot tap water you put in up to 25 degrees hotter to safely optimize cleaning effectiveness. The heater will never allow the temperature to exceed 190 degrees. The Heater switch on the front of the machine controls the heater so you have the option to turn off the heat if you are cleaning delicate wool or Oriental rugs.
The two DirtLifter PowerBrush rollers are designed to enhance cleaning performance. The bristle pattern safely lifts out the deep down dirt while gently grooming carpet fibers. The floating suspension self-adjusts to all carpet heights and protects your carpet if you leave the power switch on. Once the product is in the Upright position, the brushes automatically stop spinning. The Detent Pedal will activate the brush when floor cleaning.
The Custom Clean feature automatically mixes hot tap water with the Bissell formula. Simply choose one of the four settings (Heavy Traffic, Normal Clean, Light Clean, or Rinse) and the ProHeat 2X will adjust the right amount of cleaning solution to mix with the heated water to fit your cleaning need.

FAQ
What is deep cleaning and why is it worthwhile? Deep cleaning is a carpet-cleaning process that loosens and removes most harmful dirt and ground-in grit, which may be deep down in your rugs and carpets. Not only does it protect the investment you have in your home, but parents of young children, pet owners, and allergy sufferers may find deep cleaning especially beneficial.
What features should I consider when I purchase a deep cleaner? It is important to choose a machine that is easy to use and fits your needs. Specific features to consider are heater, brushes, design, power rating, number of cleaning attachments, styling, weight, and warranty.
Why do I need a built-in heater on my deep cleaner? The Bissell ProHeat2X with a patented built-in heater heats the water and solution--just like the pros. The water and solution travel through the heater before being sprayed onto your carpet. Bissell provides continuous heated cleaning by raising the temperature of your hot tap water by up to 25 degrees. Other systems use exhaust air from the motor to achieve "heated cleaning."
Are the Bissell DirtLifter PowerBrushes safe for my carpeting? The Bissell Research and Development department tests products on a wide variety of the most common types of carpeting for durability and wear. All of our cleaning products are proven safe, gentle, and effective on cleaning carpets. Cleaning effectiveness is dependent upon multiple factors, including brush engagement. The DirtLifter PowerBrush system is a crucial element in our cleaning process and a key factor behind our statement of unbeatable cleaning. Bissell brushes rotate like those on your everyday vacuum cleaner. They are powerful enough to get the deep down dirt, yet gentle enough to use daily.
How is my carpet warranty affected? Until now, to maintain your Scotchgard protector 5-year limited stain warranty you were required to hire a professional cleaner. By using your Bissell ProHeat with Bissell formulas containing Scotchgard protector every 12 months, your carpet's warranty from 3M remains in effect. No other deep-cleaning system can do this for you. Refer to the Scotchgard protector warranty for details.

Hoover H3032 Floormate floor cleaner Review

This is my second Floormate - I wouldn't be able to get along without it! I have read reviews saying that it leaves a film on the floor, but never in the entire time that I have used this machine has that been the case. I always use the Hoover brand cleaner, and my floors shine and smell very fresh. There is a little learning curve to this machine, but once you get the "hang of it", it is a wonderful machine! Part of the trick is to not try to work with a very large area - just about 3' x 12" or so - scrub then suck up the water. Beats the heck out of traditional mops and then having to dry the floor after....this machine is the best!

Dirt Devil Spot Scrubber Review

Dirt Devil Spot Scrubber
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Oh, how I wish I had checked reviews before I bought this product! Whoever designed this product was apparently a hateful, vengeful person who secretly wants to ruin the day of housewives everywhere. Some of my favorite features of this product are:
When you are cleaning up a disgusting spot of something, this device will randomly spew the dirty water out of the side vents, usually all over your legs as you are crouched over the spot trying to remove it. This happens when the product has a bare tablespoon of dirty water. Would it have been so hard to, I don't know, make the holding tank big enough to hold the dirty water? Or maybe make it where, when slightly full, the dirty water goes ANYWHERE other than on you and your house? Have you ever smelled hot dog urine water that has been steamed out of a vent? That smell will stay in your house for MONTHS, and no amount of spot scrubbing will help.
The scrub brush is pretty much useless, it kind of scrubs the spot, but you have to put so much pressure on the scrubber to make it reach the carpet you end up with a cramp in your wrist. You also can't really get the brush clean, it's in an awkward spot on the device.
You need the strength of a gorilla to pry the plug that keeps the dirty water in the holding tank. (Haha KEEPS it in the tank? What a laugh!) You will have to grab an awkward green tab and yank and pull and curse and...BOOM it pops open and spews that dirty water (what is left of it after the vents steamed it all over you) all over your face.
The price is good, but do you really want to pay money to curse and hate and loath every time your dog makes a piddle on the carpet? This product is poorly designed, I've been using it for 6 months now, and I'm about to throw it in the garbage and buy something else. I won't even give this thing away to someone, there isn't anyone in the world I hate that much.

Black & Decker PSV1800 18-Volt Cordless Pivoting Floor Vacuum Cleaner Review

Black and Decker PSV1800 18-Volt Cordless Pivoting Floor Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This cordless vacuum cleaner (I LOVE cordless vacuum cleaners) has a lot of positives to recommend it. It does a great job for quick (dog hair) clean ups. Good suction. Good on the edges and area rugs. Easy to maneuver. Really gets under most furniture without argument or bumps, and even fits between the chair legs (in our house). The battery lasts. Feels substantial. Stores easily and out of the way.
A good machine.
But the dirt removal is a problem. Like most quick clean vacuums, there is way too much hand-to-gunk contact. But unlike machines that have some version of a cup that you can empty, this machine needs to be folded, lifted and held over the trash bin. And the weight that made the machine feel solid, is now awkward and unbalanced and makes emptying the dirt an aggravation. For some of us, this is a problem, even with our Wheaties.
Maybe placing the machine into a plastic grocery bag that's on the floor and then opening the dust bin to empty, and then reaching my hand in to pull out the two filters for cleaning? Is that the answer?
I don't know. If somehow the ease of cleaning out the dirt from the Hoover Linx could be combined with the ease of actually using the B&D Pivoting Floor Vacuum ("pivoting" because it folds in half), I would be wild happy.

No more having to lug out the big vacuum cleaner to keep the house looking nice from day to day. This lightweight 18-volt vacuum cleaner works great for sucking up dirt, pet fur, and everyday dry messes--with easy mobility from room to room thanks to its sleek, cordless design. The unit features cyclonic action that keeps dirt off the filter for long-lasting suction power, innovative side-suction vents for effective edge cleaning along baseboards and walls, and an exclusive pivoting action that makes it possible to clean effortlessly under furniture. Turn the motorized brush roll on for vacuuming carpets, or switch it off to protect hard-floor surfaces. In addition, the unit's three-stage filtration system helps ensure cleaner air exhaust, and its bagless dirt canister empties easily so hands stay clean. A charging stand comes included, and the vacuum folds in half for compact charging and storage. Eureka Quick-Up® Cordless Vacuum - 96F Review

Eureka Quick-Upandreg; Cordless Vacuum - 96F
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this when our first child learned to crawl and we had to clean crumbs, etc off the floor before she ate them. Now we're again finding it indispensable for number two and three (now ages 1, 3, and 5)
I like it for:
1) Handle installs and removes quickly and easily.
2) vacuum hangs easy on the charger - some other ones we've had are tricky to pop into the charger correctly if you want it to be installed vertically.
3) Power roller bar - really sucks up those cheerios quickly, even on hard floors.
4) Easily removable battery - charger has a second battery charging slot so you can swap out. When I bought this the cashier at Target told me that this was what they used to clean up spills in the store. It's now almost 3 years old and the battery is starting to show it's age (It's easily removable so I'll be buying a spare soon)
UPDATE: The original battery is still going strong. To eliminate the "Memory" I just ran down the battery between charges rather than keeping it on the charger "topping off" all the time. Works great now, as good as new!
UPDATE2 - after 5-1/2 years the original battery is finally dead. OEM replacement part cost me $19.99 including shipping, good as new!!!!
Update 3 - the second battery only lasted about 2 years. I guess I got lucky on the first. Just ordered a replacement tonight. Yes, this is an update on a product I bought over 7 years ago, no I don't have any interest in your buying one or not.
TIP: When emptying I find it handy to use a full size vacuum cleaner to get the filter extra clean.
If you've found this review helpful, please let me know!

Dirt Devil Breeze Bagless Upright Vacuum, M088160RED

Our big and heavy Dirt Devil Platinum Force quit after 5 years of service and we decided to try something lighter and much less expensive.
The Breeze arrived in 3 days, even with free shipping - thanks Amazon!
Assembly was a breeze, just 4 screws. We have over 1500 sq ft of carpeted areas and steps so I put the new vacuum to work.
Pros:
-- Price (and I also used a gift certificate) - sweet!
-- Lightweight! What a difference it makes.
-- Very powerful. It sucked a full dirt container from our house.
-- Thermal protective device - according to the manual this will shut off the motor to prevent overheating (what our old vacuum did not have)
Cons:
-- No HEPA filter out of the box but the next time I replace the filter I can get a HEPA filter from Amazon
-- To use the hose (on the steps, inside car) I needed to detach the main hose and connect the special hose. But it's cool how you plug-and-twist the hose in place.
-- Warranty is only 2 years. But for the price I paid that's fine.
So really, no negatives yet. Happy with this purchase.

We previously owned three Hoover Windtunnel vacuum cleaners. This is by far Hoover's worst design! It is very noisy in operation, the suction will stop and then a filter needs to be cleaned that requires 24 hours to air dry. Extremely messy to deal with emptying the cannister. When it's working, it does pick up well. But it requires too much maintenance. We regret purchasing this vacuum model.

Hoover Widepath All Terrain Floor Cleaner with SpinScrub Brush System, Blue - F7458-900 Review

Hoover Widepath All Terrain Floor Cleaner with SpinScrub Brush System, Blue - F7458-900
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This carpet steam cleaner sucks a lot of water and is awesome! I was searching and searching for the cheapest F7452900 but they were all over $200 so I had decided that I would just go with the non package model (same thing without all the accessories) F7412900. This led me to my local Sears who had the cheapest F7412 around. Got there and saw this F7458 that I hadn't heard of on Amazon reviews. Turned out that other than the slightly different color and box it comes in, the F7458 is the Sears specific model, but is exactly the same as the F7452(I guess the legacy marketing partnership of Sears/Hoover is still in effect after all these decades). BUT IT WAS ONLY $185 BRAND NEW! *At least* $50 cheaper than the non-sears model. I highly recommend buying one at Sears. You have 90 days to return it and you have the option of a Sears maintenance plan/warranty extension.
I love this steam cleaner and I'm glad I didn't get the non accessorized model. It totally smokes the Bissell Proheat that I use to use (which just soaks the carpet and washes all the dirt DOWN, and doesn't suck up much water or dirt).
The F7458900 has a dark blue base, shades of grey everywhere else, and bright green side and main brushes. It's about 21.5 lbs without water, so just assume +7lbs more when full with a gallon of water to equal about 28. A good amount of weight for brushing and getting good suction, yet had no problems maneuvering. For anyone interested, it was pulling about 10.5 amps while running on my KillaWatt meter (I don't know why advertisements for electrical equipment don't list power usage/requirements).
These package models include the additional accessories such as floor squeegee which mounts on the machines front suction, the rotating power brush for the handheld, a crevice tool, a utility tool (smaller version of power brush without rotating brushes for using in places such as your car), hose/tool mount (which hangs on back of machine or on a hanger in the closet), hard/smooth floor machine brushes, 3 rotating scouring pads for handheld, upgraded rubber lined wheels, 16oz. of Hoover Floormate hard floor solution, 16oz. of Hoover Ultra carpet/upholstery solution, and the upgraded clear more flexible hose. It has the heater spray, but that is only for carpet spray and not the handheld spray. Hell I would buy this package over the base model just because of the upgraded hose- it is super flexible and not the cheap solid gray plastic (will surely crack) of the base model. I also like that the wheels have a slight design to them, kind of like solid spokes; unlike the base model which has the hollow "big wheel" like plastic wheels.
Operation is a snap. The clean water tank holds about a gallon of water as well as has the ~16oz. separate tank for the solution. The machine automatically proportions solution to water during operation. The tank simply snaps into the upright portion of the machine. There are little spring loaded valves for each tank at the bottom. It has a fold out carrying handle which is what snaps into place to hold the tank secure. There is a gasketed 1/4 turn fill cap for the water and solution tanks. The dirty water tank sits below that, held to the machine base by 2 quick open/close plastic latches. It also has a fold out handle, which folds forward to hold the top on the tank. The tank top has an o-ring. It has a "permanent" plastic screen filter installed in it (I recommend putting a thin piece of foam over this to protect it; although it rinses clean no problem). The dirty tank also contains a float which rises and blocks of suction when it is full (you'll hear it when it's full). To access the dirty water tank you have to tilt back the handle so that you can lift it up/out. On the handle there is an on/off switch, a rinse-only/wash switch, and the squeeze trigger for dispensing spray. There is also a non-removable filter underneath the machine which slide in/out for cleaning. A nice little feature is that the main brushes stop spinning when the handle is upright, so it can sit there and not "burn" a brush pattern into your carpet. The brushes have a manual 3 speed selector, off for cleaning spills, low for hard/smooth surfaces, and high for carpet. I just leave it in high all the time that they are always in use and will not become stuck after no use. Remember to use water no warmer than you can hold your hand under, as hot water causes plastics/rubbers to swell and causes leaks/failure over time.
The hand tool hose has 2 hoses, one for vacuum suction(into flip top snap in port on the front of the base) and one for water/solution(small snap in hose on the side of the base). The small solution hose has a clip to hold it out of the way attached to the main hose when not in use. Ensure this little hose is not kinked during storage as it will soften and then hold that kink during use and restrict water flow (mine came new out of the box kinked a bit). The hose is 8' long and the upgraded hose stretches a little. Tools just snap on/off of the hose. The trigger on the hose does not seem cheap like others I've seen. The powerbrush has two rotating brushes which spin pretty quick. The spray comes out at about a 60 degree angle.
To carpet clean you have to go over the area at least 3 times, although the manual says 4; squeeze trigger while walking forward to spray and brush the carpet, stop momentarily, keep holding trigger while backing up to brush/rinse (machine automatically stops dispensing soap/solution), and then walk forward and back again without trigger to vacuum up water. After these 4 steps the carpet if left barely damp and mine was dry in about an hour. Obviously you can go over the same area as much as you like for more cleaning/drying, and you can walk slower/faster based on how good you need to clean/brush/rinse/dry an area. A full tank of water lasted for about 1/2 of a 10x10' room for me as I push pretty slow. 4oz. of solution lasted for at least that room size.
And then of course there is cleaning the machine once you're done (unless you don't care about your machine lasting); which is also a breeze. Both tanks are removable, the front vacuum port lifts out, and the brushes pull right out. Everything rinses clean with just warm water. I fill the water and solution tanks with a little water and carpet clean and hand tool clean a little bit to flush detergent/dirt out before breaking down and rinsing parts. This will keep everything fresh and clean, especially good for seals/valves. My only gripe here is that the plastic around the brush assembly does not quickly remove for cleaning (uses 2 screws) and has to be wiped off, as well as the bottom on the base.
A few additional cons: Water and solution supply tank valves are not at the rearmost position of the tanks, and since the handle/tanks are tilted back while operating, a little bit is left that will not be usable by the machine. The tool caddy has a little bit of play in it's mounting. The squeegee has fallen out of the tool caddy during use quite a few times. The o-ring in the top of the dirty tank has tiny gaps at its ends which would cause a slight loss in available suction. There is nowhere provided to store the hardfloor brush, utility tool, and scouring pad attachments. If there were a little more clearance provided, I would not have to tilt the handle back to remove the dirty tank. The model/serial number can easily be removed/replaced by unscrupulous dealers (I had an experience with a dealer selling remanufactured machines as "new", and changing around parts to make a machine). There is no dust cover for the hose solution hose port on the base. Dirty water tank top cover could be held in a little more firmly to ensure max suction. But these are just minor issues which could be improved upon and don't really affect the awesomeness of this machine.

Hoover Reconditioned WindTunnel Upright Vacuum, Bagged, U54219RM Review

As has been said, for $40 you can't beat it. The vacuum looked brand new out of the box and worked fine after putting it together. Took about fifteen minutes to a half hour to assemble. The first time I started to run this vacuum cleaner I was amazed at how much stuff in my carpet that my last vacuum was missing. A nice feature is that this vacuum comes with a warning light to let you know if an area is completely clean. I found myself going over and over parts of the rug that looked clean to the naked eye but was probably not. I have one dog and two cats, with all the animal hair shedding constantly a good vacuum is a must in my house and this one seems to do the trick.

Dirt Devil Extreme Quick Vac Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum, UD20010 Review

Dirt Devil Extreme Quick Vac Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum, UD20010

My father bought me this vacuum for Christmas since my old hand me down one finally died. I opened the package and was worried that it wouldn't be very strong considering it's size... WOW. I have a cat and a dog and this thing picked up every single hair in the house. I was shocked to see how much dirt had been in my carpet all this time... and more shocked that this lightweight vac picked it all up. It's great for the stairs too because it's so light. I would recommend this to everyone.

SC3683A Commercial Canister Vacuum Cleaner Review

SC3683A Commercial Canister Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This vacuum was one of the first purchases we made when we started our janitorial company three years ago. It has been money well spent! I only gave it 4 stars because there are 2 things that I would have changed on the design and they are really more annoyances than defects. The first one is I would add an automatic winding reel for the cord. It's a real pain to have to wind it up after each use to transport. The other thing I'd change is on the floor tool. We use it a lot on bare floors. Another model we have has 2 small wheels on the bottom of the floor tool that helps it ride more smoothly on the surface.
For a small vacuum it has a lot of suction and the telescoping wand is a great idea! Just push or pull on the handle while holding the locking mechanism and voila!
Changing the bags and filter is a snap! The vacuum only weighs 10 lbs. so it's easy to carry and has a handy shoulder strap. It could be a little quieter but it's not any worse than the vacuum I use in my home.
I recommend the commercial (red) version over the residential (yellow). For $40 more you get a larger motor and better hose and tools. The residential model seems to heat up a lot more than the commercial model probably due to the smaller motor. But you pay for that in weight, 10 lbs versus 8 lbs. The residential model's hose is a joke! It is so lightweight that it bends and crimps all the time. Also the residential model does not come with a shoulder strap.
We've used this vacuum on every job from residential cleaning to commercial cleaning to construction clean-up. It has never failed to deliver! I recommend it!

Dirt Devil M085590RED Featherlite Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Dirt Devil M085590RED Featherlite Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Approximately three years ago, my $200 Eureka vac finally stopped working and I purchased the featherlite to replace it. At that time I lived in a 1,400 sf apartment. Now I live in a 2,500 sft home.
For the past three years, this vacuum has served our family well. Pros:
1. Inexpensive. $40 or less in most places.
2. It picks up dirt, fuzz (and legos) as well or better than any other vacuum I've ever used. Really. Just change the bag when it gets full.
3. Light weight. It's very easy to manuver and my younger kids can use it.
4. Simplicity. This is a basic vac. It's easy to change the bag, wind the cord, and pull hair/crud out of the roller if necessary.
5. It's got a bag. This is a personal preference, but every bagless upright I've ever used creates a small dust storm when you empty it. The bag system on this one works well.
Cons:
1. I don't expect it to go past 5 years. It's clearly designed for low cost and light weight. However, so far so good.
2. It's pretty loud. Not the loudest I've used but it's not quiet.
3. The hose for attachments is cumbersome to use. My recommendation? Use a small canister vac and/or shop vac instead. Most uprights have on-board tools that don't work well.
4. I have several children, and one in particular that sheds a lot of long hair. All vac will get hair caught in the beater-bar underneath, but this one also seems to get hair caught in the bushings that support the bar. When this happens, the hair builds up in that area creating friction and eventually smelly hair smell. Not a huge problem but slightly annoying.
I intend to buy another one of these when mine gives out. If I have to spend $40 every 4-6 years to own a lightweight, easy to use, vacuum that cleans extremely well then I'm quite ok with that! I see no reason to blow $200-$400 on a large heavy vacuum that MIGHT last a little longer.

Eureka 4870MZ Boss Smart-Vac Upright HEPA Vacuum Cleaner Review

Eureka 4870MZ Boss Smart-Vac Upright HEPA Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Although most the reviews are for the 4870GZ and I bought the 4870MZ, I suspect the machines are basically the same so I won't repeat what others have already said about it except to say this is a solid machine with excellent suction and it did a great job on my carpets, both deep cleaning and returning the nap to a plush feel.
I'm writing to say that, contrary to many reviews, the Power Paw does in fact attach to the vacuum. At least mine does. It comes with a clear plastic cover that attaches to the vacuum just below the top D-handle. If you look closely you'll find the mating point. You then simply clip the paw into the cover and it stores on the handle.
Also, contrary to some reviews, the bare floor setting works fine. You just need to press the tab hard until you hear a click and it engages. The brush is then disabled for bare floor vacuuming.
I really wanted to justify a Dyson but at 1/3 the price, this machine is all that I need. I'm extremely satisfied with the purchase.
